Adult Education Programs:
Adult
Education Programs
St. David’s offers ongoing
Christian education to adults as well as for children.
Programs in the past have included books studies, Bible
studies, exploring prayer, and a video discussion series
entitled, “Living the Questions.”
There are three current
programs in progress.
“Wednesday Night at the
Movies”
This is a Lenten series where
members and friends watch a contemporary movie, and discuss
the issues it raises and how it informs their Christian life
and faith. “The Visitor” will be seen February 24, and
“Dead Man Walking” on March 3. The group will suggest other
films, but other possibilities are “Chocolat”, “Amistad”,
and “Tuesdays with Morrie”. The group will be meeting at
6:30 in the rectory.
“An Introduction to the
Episcopal Church”
This is an educational series
for inquirers and those seeking confirmation or reception
into the Episcopal Church. Topics will include: The roots
of the Episcopal Church; Similarities and differences
between Christian denominations; How the Episcopal Church is
structured and decisions made; The Anglican Communion; and
Worship and the Book of Common Prayer. This group will be
meeting between Sunday services from 9:15 to 9:45.
“What Do You Want to Know?”
There is a box in the church
for members to submit questions they have about God, the
church, the Bible, ethical issues, or topics they would
simply like to learn a little more about. Questions that
have been submitted include: “Is there life after death?”,
“Islam”, “What does it mean to be led by the Holy Spirit?”
and “Why do people suffer?” These adult forums have also
been held on Sunday mornings.
Contact St.
David’s if you would like more information. All are
welcome.
