Vestry
Meeting Minutes
October
17, 2011
Attendance:
The
Rev. Carolyn Stevenson, George Younker (Sr. Warden), Doug
Moore (Jr. Warden), David
Niemeyer (Clerk), Kevin Ray, Barbara Klenner, and Danny
Angelopolus.
Opening Reflection and Prayers:
The Vestry members were asked by Carolyn “why is it
difficult to talk about money?” Prayers were then offered
for parishioners’ families.
Minutes from September 19, 2011 Meeting:
The
minutes from the September 2011 Vestry Meeting were reviewed
/ approved.
Financials:
Doug
presented the September financial report on behalf of Deb
Ogin (Treasurer). With Craft Fair revenue of $8,830, revenue
for the month was over budget by $10,498. Expenses were over
budget by $1,078, resulting in a monthly surplus of
$9,420. Through September, the year to date budget is left
with a surplus of $10,879. $600 was paid for tree cleanup
after the early snow storm. The white board used for the
Craft Fair needs to be replaced. It was suggested it go
against Craft Fair expenses. The Altar Guild purchased some
new vestments; the costs came out of the Altar Guild funds.
Dave made a motion to accept the financials as presented,
with George seconding.
Craft Fair:
Dianna is
stepping down as co-chair, but will help Rick, who will
continue as chairperson. Judi is stepping down as raffle
coordinator, but will do another year. Lynn Clarke will now
be the crafter liaison, taking Ellie’s place.
Sock Hop:
The
stewardship champagne’s Sock Hop dance and Pot Luck Dinner
will be Saturday November 5th, at 6 PM. Alex Niemeyer and a
friend will DJ with oldies Rock and Roll music. Bring
memorabilia if you have any.
David Hall Fund:
Requests have been slow; Carolyn met with a new foster child
case worker. If St. David’s wants to expand the mission so
that more children are helped, we should keep the
conversation going and discuss with the congregation.
Property:
A
quote was received to install thermal storm windows over the
two stained glass windows at $485/ea. The plan is to install
these, then remove the stained glass windows for
replacement/repair (quotes are still pending for this).
After discussion, Dave made a motion, with Dan seconding, to
take funds out of the Memorial Fund (approximately $1,000)
for the storm window purchase. The motion passed
Delegate/Vestry Openings:
With Ellie
Carey leaving, a position in the Vestry is open, and a new
Delegate to Diocesan Convention is needed. It was decided
that Sherry Kellett, alternate Delegate, will be asked to
fill in and the Vestry position will remain open until the
annual meeting in January.
Stewardship Campaign:
The
campaign continues with Sunday Service guest speakers
discussing various roles within the church. Dave and Kevin
agreed to represent the Vestry on November 13, at 8 AM and
10 AM, respectively.
Dicesan Convention:
Diocesan
Convention is the last Saturday in November. Southern
Convocation is next Tuesday. A summary of the Resolutions
being brought forth for voting at Diocesan Convention was
typed up by Carolyn and presented to the Vestry. She will
also present these to the congregation.
